HOUSING ELIGIBILITY HAS CHANGED!

Effective for the 2009-10 leasing season, the housing eligibility policy for faculty and employees has changed. HRES no longer requires a Harvard University Department Guarantee Letter for full-time, non-Harvard-paid faculty and employees, such as visiting faculty, visiting scholars, visiting fellows, non-benefits-eligible postdoctoral fellows, Harvard teaching hospital employees, or those in similar affiliation categories. Please be aware that those who sign a lease will pay rent by check. Rent is due on or before the first day of each and every month until the lease expires. HRES strictly enforces a no-tolerance policy regarding late payment of rent.

This session will explain the home buying process and teach you how to navigate the rough and tumble world of local real estate markets. You will learn how to research communities, assess your price range and shop for a mortgage, and understand the difference between buyer vs. seller agents. We will show you the tax advantages of home ownership. You will learn how to make an offer and what you need to know before you close on your first new home or condominium.
